Brainerd Warrior Football Association (“BWFA”)-
Press Release September 2013
You may be surprised to learn that the BWFA is not a social club, although watching the BWFA grilling brats to feed hungry football players after a scrimmage or selling t-shirts to raise funds that are used to help off-set athletic fees for middle school players; you would certainly see the social aspect of the BWFA. Bystanders are surprised to see the same BWFA members that keep showing up year after year and they often ask, “Why?”
The mission of the BWFA is to support the Brainerd Football Program. This support comes in the form of financial and in-kind contributions and the volunteering of time to further the principles of the Warrior Way! Several BWFA members are Warrior football alum, but most are not. Some of the BWFA members’ have sons currently playing Warrior football at some level. Most have sons that have long since left the Warrior football program – a few have gone on to play at the college level, but most have not.
The BWFA mission includes a reference to the Warrior Way. But to clarify, the Warrior Way is not a fund. The Warrior Way is simply, a tradition. That tradition is a formula for success, on and off the field. That tradition never graduates.
We have all seen situations when a celebrated coach or a super star player enters a program for a brief time and creates a flash of excitement and brief success. The Warrior football tradition is more than a flash. Warrior football, the Warrior Way, has been sustained for many years – and is more than a single coach, a single player, a single strategy – it’s all of that AND MORE, much more.
Guided by the principles of the Warrior Way, Coach Ron Stolski assembled a few parents, Warrior football alum, and community supporters who kicked off the Brainerd Warrior Football Association (“BWFA”) in 2008, when economic pressures threatened the ability for the next generation of Warriors to participate in Warrior football. The BWFA vision was simple: it had to be a place where everyone is welcome – dads and moms, alum and players, community supporters, and anyone interested in Warrior football. The success of the BWFA would not be possible without
the loyal core group,
amazing support from the local business community,
a strong resource pool of enthusiastic parents of current players that is refreshed each year,
hundreds of Warrior football alum who stand ready to pitch in when asked, and
new BWFA members willing to jump in - - maybe that’s you? If it is you, WELCOME.
Check out for the latest news and information about Warrior football and the BWFA! We’re also on Facebook and hope to get up to 1500 “Likes” by the start of the Homecoming game – just like we hope to see the Warriors put points on the scoreboard during the game!
There are many ways to support Warrior athletics and a lot of great people in our community doing remarkable things. The BWFA appreciates and supports other community volunteer organizations that enhance the experience for all students involved in co-curricular activities. Go Warriors!
Currently there are over 500 youth involved in Warrior football at the various levels of play:
175 – BYAA
200 – Middle school
55 – Freshman
100 – Varsity
